Plan Your Visit

What do we mean – “Everyone is welcome”?

We mean you are welcome even if

– you have doubts

– you have not attended church in decades

– you are divorced

– your family does not look traditional

– you or one of your family has a disability – yes, even if they can’t sit still

– you are LGBTQ+ or have an LGBTQ+ family member

– you disagree politically with members (we hold a wide variety of political views, but church – especially the pulpit is not for politics!)

– you cannot give financially?

We work hard to be a safe place where there is space for anyone to seek God – including you.

Where to park

Parking is plentiful around the church—on and off street.

What entrance to use—accessibility

The main entrance is on 15th Street—just up the stairs. If you need accessible entrances we have two options. The Walnut street entrance is accessible and includes a chairlift to the second floor. The Sanctuary is through the hallways and up a ramp. Another option is the handicap ramp on the east side of the building through the parking lot. This ramp leads directly to the sanctuary.

The building is accessible through a series of ramps, a chair lift, and accessible restrooms.

What to wear

You’ll find people dressed in a wide variety of styles—from casual shorts to suit jackets and “Sunday Best.” – Your comfort is important to us, so we invite you to wear what is most comfortable to you.

What worship is like

The 10:30-11:30 Sunday morning service is a traditional service that has room for laughter, participation, and spiritual exploration.

You are welcome to bring your drink with you, snacks for the kids, and activities to keep them occupied. We practice an intergenerational ministry style that keeps families together for worship rather than separating them out to different departments. Giggles and wiggles – of children and adults are a welcome part of our active worship.

Bringing Kids

Children remain in the sanctuary throughout the service. Our commitment to intergenerational worship means there is space for kids in the service – a kids’ time children’s sermon, and opportunity for older kids to participate as candlelighters, ushers, etc. If you need to step out of the sanctuary to nurse (not necessary), settle a crying baby, or care for a kid who needs some space, we have a special chapel behind the sanctuary—just slip through the door behind the piano and down the ramp. The restrooms are on the right, and the chapel is on the left.

Communion

Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month. It is an open table, and anyone seeking God is welcome to join us at the Table. You do not have to be a member of the church—or even a Methodist.

Will I be singled out?

Our folks are friendly and will naturally meet and greet you. You’ll have the option of signing the visitor’s book, providing us with additional information to follow up with you after the visit, and receiving a small packet of information from us about the church. We will not ask you to stand, introduce yourself to the congregation, or wear anything that says “I’m a visitor” … We understand it can be uncomfortable and intimidating to be a visitor. We will make space for you to control how you engage with the congregation.
